The Urnes Style – Elegancy and Fluidity

The Urnes style was the last phase of Scandinavian animal art. 

Dating from the second half of the 11th century to the early 12th century, it was characterised by elongated proportions, heads in profile, and spirals representing hip joints.

The style blended with Romanesque European Art and is magnificently displayed at the Urnes Stave Church in Norway.
